The official website for Little Scholars was launched this morning. This Richmond-based startup provides educational services for pre-school and elementary school children to compliment their traditional classes. |
Stephaine Jefferson, M.Ed., founded Little Scholars to provide instruction to enhance what children were getting from local schools as well as better prepare those children for getting the most from their educational experience.
Little Scholars' enrichment programs were a natural extension of the tutoring and kindergarten readiness assessment Ms. Jefferson was already providing. The classes are unique not just in the developmentally appropriate instruction they provide pre-k students, but also in that they are individualized so each child gets a one-on-one experience and attention. Combined with tailoring the class to each student's intersts to maximize their learning and fun, the resulting enrichment program gives children the confidence to start school and reassures parents their children will perform their best.
The one thing all parent's want but cannot find is a formal, accurate assessment of their child's readiness to start school. Little Scholars has a formal asessment that analyzes your child's abilities and skills and then provides you with a written report and specific steps to take. This is a welcome, peace-of-mind for many parents.
Several local Richmond VA schools have already engaged Little Scholars to provide their enrichment programs for incoming and returning students. Whether it's Little Scholars' existing fine motor skills, emerging reading or math, or language classes or custom programs made to taiilor-fit into the school's existing curriculum, directors find Ms. Jefferson's content and delvier is perfect for studetns, parents and the school.
